One day = 1440 minutes. My elusive goal is to be fully present for each of them. That’s pretty much impossible because of what we called, in meditation, “monkey mind.” And that’s ok because we are human, with all our complexities. But taking and sharing photos makes it easier to be in (and then remember) those moments. Here’s some from the past week.
Moonrise over Huron Bay, directly in front of Camp Many Moons. Like my home page photo!
Siberian Husky Roscoe, delighted and delightful at age 15. And I’m so delighted that he’s well enough to get into and out of the rowboat.
The Parade of Nations in Houghton, Michigan (across the canal from my hometown of Hancock). Way to go, Michigan Tech! Great energy and such fun.
Of course I cheered loudly when Finland passed by. (I’m 100% Finn by DNA, as are many people around here.) The parade represented 60 countries, plus Native Americans.
So sweet that the Ukraine entry expressed thanks for U.S. support as it continues to fight Russian aggression. It’s sad that Finland, homeland of my grandparents, is wondering if they will be next to face a Russian invasion. (Another one, I should say.) My paternal grandfather was born on the Russia side of the border. This issue is closer than some people think.
The weather’s remains great for paddling. Getting chilly, but still so much calm water!
Sister Barb, 10 years older than me but a young spirit, is the last of my six siblings to see the new house. (And stay in it! 🙂 ) She and husband Tom drove from Washington State. This is the shore of Lake Superior at the Huron River, the Huron Islands in the background.
The mouth of the Huron River takes different shapes in different seasons.
Looper reunion! Here’s Kay and Greg from Duluth MN, visiting with Jeff at the end of the dock at Camp Many Moons. We traveled with them for awhile while doing The Great Loop. They were passing by during a road trip and stopped in today to visit. We haven’t seen them in 2+ years! When you share an adventure like that…
And here’s the funny thing. They came in a truck camper that looks just like Jeff’s. Here they are side-by-side at the house. We’re about to test out this new camper, and Jeff’s new long-bed that carries it. More on that later, perhaps.
Finally, a moment to appreciate again the still waters of Huron Bay. Just take a minute….
wow. What strides you and Jeff have made! And I’m so relieved that Roscoe is still ticking; his usual doggy self. Getting work done here, too; pole barn repair, driveway graded, lots of maintenance stuff that needed to be done. Covid put it back, as I couldn’t find anyone until this year. Now it’s getting done.

Your place looks wonderful!
